Make Your Bed to Shape Your Day

Make Your Bed to Shape Your Day

What’s so great about the mundane ritual of making your bed? Because it is one of the first tasks you’ll tackle, it sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Sticking to the routine can help you build discipline for other habits, and it may even help your mood: making the bed adds order to any bedroom.

Admiral William H. McRaven, a U.S. Navy retiree, actually wrote a hit book called Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life...And Maybe The World. Here are a couple of great quotes…

“If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed.”

“And, if by chance you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that is made—that you made—and a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better. If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.”

Rituals don’t have to be fancy to make a difference. Start your day better and end it feeling more relaxed.
